CHAIN

CHAIN was written to enable students to practice writing the equations for forces acting on point masses. The user can enter their own equations and watch the resulting simulation.

A chain consists of four light elastic rods hinged together. Five masses, numbered 1 to 5, are attached to the hinges. Mass 1 is fixed, the others are free to drop under gravity. What are the x- and y-components of the forces acting on on each of the masses 2 to 4?
